Introduction

Introduction

Hola, my name is Adam, 19, 2nd year CDM student at ITB TUD. So far its been a pretty decent course, the work is completely random, irrelevant and tedious at times but overall I have enjoyed it so far. Last year was a hard one, adjusting to college life and all, sorting out assignments and meeting deadlines etc. my favorite and simultaneously least favorite module was web development, initially I found it super simple, I was the "ace of html" (patent pending), but then in the 2nd semester we were required to actually code something moderately challenging and I thought I was going to fail the module because I was clueless. We had a really cool lecturer in Helen though.

By far my biggest achievement in TUD so far was a film I made for the module Storytelling and Narrative. It was called Pope Wars, and it was basically me just taking the piss for 6 minutes and submitting it as my big final project. In summary it was basically Donald Trumps twin sister attempting to become the pope. It was a masterpiece, this is not up to opinion.

Moving onto more about me, when I finish this course I wanna move on and do something in game design/game development, making video games and stuff. Hobbies include mainly football and video games. Favorite game is probably a tie between "Undertale" and "Yakuza Kiwami", both great games with great stories and characters plus they throw in a little bit of random shithousery, which i'm a fan of. In terms of music i'm a big fan of hip-hop, specifically obscure hip-hop. My favorite artists are 2 lesser known rappers called Aesop Rock and E-Dubble, The latter of which i've been listening to since I was 12.

Well that was my amazing introduction blog post, hope you enjoyed. Here's a copyright free image of a dog to celebrate your completion.

  1. Hi Adam !

Your blog is very funny ! Makes reading this on a Friday so I don't have to do it Sunday more of a treat ! Sadly your font size is too small making it hard to read sometimes, maybe increase so it's easier to read ?

Also I didn't know you were into hip-hop I'm not into hip-hop at all, metal is more my thing but I actually heard those names from somewhere and I don't know where haha. Anyway, Can't wait to read your blog in the future !

  2. Sup Adam,

I totally relate to your love hate relationship for Web development, in first year i didn't really like it but the more i did it the more i got into it.

i also thought your Pope Wars Film was quite funny, having being there to witness it in class.

i also wouldn't mind going into gaming or something web development related after finishing the course, that would be cool.

anyways cool blog dude keep it up. :)

  3. Hi Adam!

I agree that the course can seem a bit random and tedious at times- I think it's a bit tedious that we're doing filming again this semester since we've done the same thing for the past 2 semesters.
I have my ups and downs with web dev too! I'm sure you can sometimes hear me having a meltdown in the labs from across the room.

Speaking of filming- I absolutely loved your Pope Wars film. It was very different to the other films people did, and just brilliant. I still chuckle at the thought of it. It's a masterpiece that puts other masterpieces to shame.

Since I love playing games too, Game Design is definitely something I'm interested in as a career. Undertale is a great choice of game, I love it to pieces (the opposite goes for the fandom...). I'm a sucker for plot in games, but I like when theres easter eggs or just things intended to be made into memes thrown in.

(I dont know if the picture of the white dog in your blog is meant to reference Annoying Dog or if its just a coincidence, but I love it regardless. What a cute lil doggo!)

I'm looking forward to hearing more from you!

  4. Hi adam.
I really enjoyed your blog and I really agree with your point on web dev it can be really boring at times. I kind of wish this course did not have such a huge concentration on web dev like in every semester we have a website module. I was quite disappointed that we were not doing anything to do with photography this year and would way prefer that over web design.
overall I really enjoyed your blog but I would adjust the font size as it can be hard to see at times

  5. Hey Adam
Really enjoyed reading your introduction it was pretty funny and the description of your movie sounds amazing, as for web dev it was more or less the same for me semester one I was amazed at how easy it felt then semester two rolled around and proved me wrong during this trying time I discovered that floats are my weakness. And also the most important part of this was that super cute dog.

  6. Hi Adam,

I can definitely understand how you felt with Web Dev as I definitely felt it was really difficult at times and still is. I also checked out your masterpiece of a film, you can really see that you had fun with it and it turned out great! You have also reminded me of E-Dubble who I remember first hearing back in the old call of duty days. Overall I think this was a great introduction and I have learned a lot about you!

Finishing off the post with a dog was a nice touch.

  7. Well a good day to you Adam!!!

I must say that your style of writing is very nice and your introduction truly helped to show that even more clearly. I must say that it is very interesting to learn about what you are like and that you are enjoying your college life indeed.
Ah yes Web Dev can be a bit of a mixed bag from "Ah this is child's play, where is my ace of HTML plaque and sash" to "what is this mad forsaken alien Language that you are giving us here" and I understand it takes a lot to learn.
Interesting favourite game types and hobbies. I do love me Undertale myself and may I ask who be your favourite character as mine is a tie between Sans and Temmie. Good to see that you are a sporty bloke (yet I have no clue about anything sport related in the slightest) and a very interesting taste in you music there.

Also, excuse me one moment *gives fluffo pupper doggo plenty of best doggo pats, rubs, treats and affection* oh uh where were we at again.

Anyway my hat goes off to you and I hope that you have success with these blogs as I look forward to reading more of them as time goes on.

    Cheerio!!!

  8. Hi Adam
I also find wed dev to be a fun module and the second semester was also more challenging. I also like the idea for your short film it seems like a funny idea. Overall this was a funny post to read so it makes your blogs fun to read. I hope the rest of your posts are like this.

  10. Hi Adam,

I have also found work to be completely random, irrelevant and tedious at times as well on this course. I’m glad I haven’t been the only one. I feel like it could be structured so much better. I think it’s cool that you want to get into game design/development. Have you found that this module has helped you with them skills? I am also a big fan of E-Dubble. I can’t believe he passed away so young.

I look forward to reading some of your future blogs.

  11. Hey Adam,

I also found myself struggling with web development last year, it can be a lot to get your head around, especially when you're trying to learn so many new things at once.

Your video is great, very funny. I also really enjoyed the storytelling and narrative module last year and felt I also made a decent video (I don't think Katherine agreed though based on my marks)

Great blog and keep up the good work,

    James

  12. Hey Adam,

I enjoyed reading your introduction! I have to say the blog's photo really drew me in, only to be let down that it was just a random dog that was in the blog for no reason.. still cute though. I remember your Storytelling and Narrative video from last years' presentations! It was really good and everybody seemed to enjoy it.

    Keep up the good work
